Missions Conference 2018

"Go Home and Tell Your Friends"

May 16-20, 2018

We are excited about this year's missions conference, which begins on Wed. May 16 at 7:00 PM, and concludes on Sun. May 20 at 6:00 PM. The theme for this year's conference is "Go Home and Tell Your Friends", and the focus is on church planting in the U. S. A. Our guest preacher for the conference is Pastor John Hamilton, who was just with us for the "Doing Our Part with All of Our Heart" Banquet. He is the pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, and is also the Director of U. S. Church Planting, which is one of the mission organizations that we support. Other guests include Pastor Joe Delp (Philadelphia), Pastor Steve Jenney (San Clemente, CA), and Dr. Richard Jacob (Washington, D. C.). We are also hosting Rebecca Kuehlman, whom our church supports in her missionary work in Japan. Please be in prayer for this important conference and do everything in your power using God's power to attend all of the services that you can.

Praise God for New Blessings!

This week begins another exciting time for us as Justin Dilliplane, Pastor and Mrs. Cartwright's grandson will be joining our church staff as a pastoral intern for the summer. Justin just completed his 3rd year of college at Pensacola Christian College; he is planning to follow the Lord’s leading to go into the ministry when his schooling is completed so this summer will be a vital part in his preparations to serve the Lord. Justin will be assisting us in all aspects of the ministry with a special focus on our teens, young adults, music, soul winning , and discipleship. Please pray for Justin as He seeks to glorify the Lord through this summer ministry!

Foundations Bible Class

The Foundations Bible Class is an 8 week Bible study which is designed to implement the principles of II. Tim. 2:2 that we have been stressing in our ministry recently.  It is one experienced Christian taking one of our newcomers "under his/her wing" and bringing them along in personal discipleship and Christian growth.  The disciple and his teacher will meet together at the Wednesday night church service, and progress through the 8 week course with prayer, accountability, praise, and Bible study.  Pastor Cartwright will teach the lesson on Wednesday, and then the students (disciples) will break off in pairs (or threes) with their teacher for review, clarification, encouragement, and prayer.  We want to encourage everyone to have a part in the class either as a teacher or a student.

Stewardship Month Commitment Sunday

Commitment Sunday is the culmination of our month long emphasis on the stewardship God has called us to as His people.  As we have reflected on His marvelous grace to us during the past few weeks, it is now time for us to respond with faith and love by making our stewardship commitments to Him.  Christian Stewardship recognizes that everything we have has come from God, and that we are responsible to prayerfully seek the Lord's will in how we can give back to Him what He has so freely and abundantly given to us.  Christian stewardship relates to our faithful use of our time, our talents, and our treasures for the glory of God.  It begins with Christ not only becoming our Savior, but also the Lord and Master of our lives. Let us all turn in our faith commitment cards today and demonstrate our love for the Lord and for His Church at Calvary.

The 7:14 Prayer Initiative

There are 2 major needs which we would like to call to your attention as a motivation for prayer throughout the year.  First, there is the need for prayer for our building program.  This is a major project for our church and requires the united effort in prayer of all of our members and friends.  Pray for: the Pastor, Joe Kaiser, the building committee, the approvals we need from the Township, the finances needed,  and all that is involved in the building process.
Secondly, and MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, is the need for revival in our personal lives, our families, our church, and our country.  We are asking God to ignite a burden of prayer for revival in all of our lives.  In this election year we are becoming increasingly aware of the desperate need of our country to experience the power of God in a genuine, heaven sent revival.  God has done it before here in America, and He has also recorded for us the testimony of revivals that came in the Bible during the days of Nehemiah, Josiah, and even Jonah.  May God be pleased to use the "7:14 Prayer Initiative" to transform us and conform us to His image!

Bible Reading Plan for 2017

One of the most beneficial habits that you can develop for your life is to meet each day with the Lord, reading and meditating on His word and spending time with Him in prayer. Some people call it a personal "Quiet Time" with the Lord.  In order to assist you in th is daily devotional time with the Lord, we are providing a daily Bible reading schedule which will be available today.  This schedule will guide you through the entire New Testament in one year, and it also provides a schedule for reading through the entire Bible in one year.

Bible Reading Schedule On Line

If you would prefer, there is a Bible reading schedule available on line.  Go to bible.com on your computer or download the YouVersion Bible app on your phone or tablet.  Create your own account.  Look for the Reading Plans icon and click on it.  Select "Whole Bible", and then click on "The One Year Bible".  There will be a description of the plan and a sample as well.  Click, "Start plan" and you should be ready to go.  You can either just read the New Testament passages, or if you want to read through the whole Bible, then follow through with all passages.

Paul’s Prayer for God’s People

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Eph. 3:14-21.

Church Membership

Church membership is the biblical principle of being part of a local body of believers who are committed to the fulfillment of the great commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ found in Matthew 28:18-20. Church membership also involves being a part of a body of believers who are committed to the great commandments of Matthew 22:36-40. In order to become a member at Calvary, you must first receive the gift of God which is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Also, you need to follow the Lord's command to be baptized (immersed) as a disciple of Jesus Christ and make your your commitment to follow Him and love Him and serve Him. If you would like to be a part of the membership of Calvary Independent Baptist Church please let us know by coming forward in the invitation time of the service or by seeing the Pastor personally. (Cf. Acts 2:41-47)

The Bible teaches that one of the first steps of obedience that a child of God can take is to be baptized (see Matt. 28:18-20). If you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior, but have not taken this important step to be baptized yet, please see Pastor Cartwright and let us know your desire to fulfill God's will in this area of your life.
